Dog Eat Dog World

For those of you who do not know, Crystal and I live in Oklahoma now. We live in a neighborhood with a lot of neighbors, and in fact, we share a fence with the neighbors directly behind us.

One of our two dogs is Brandi; she is a Terrier mix, and she is obsessed with the neighbors dog, named Milo. It is sort of a Romeo and Juliet thing going on between them. Brandi and Miilo run up and down the fence together barking like maniacs, but the neighbors do not like it; they do not like Brandi’s shrilly bark, and they love to sit outside on their patio on decent days.

Brandi is always listening for Milo when she is in the house, and it does not matter what she is doing; whether it be eating, drinking, or sleeping she knows quite frequently when Milo or his family members are outside. She is seriously like a bat: she has radar and always runs to the fence whether Milo is out or not.

The reason I say Brandi and Milo are like Romeo and Juliet is because we do not get along with the neighbors that live directly behind us. Personally, I have had one interaction with the mother of the house over there, and it was far from pleasant.

So, I was out on the back deck filling feeders for the birds, and Brandi and our other dog Baby, who is a Beagle mix are at the fence barking. Now their barking can be loud, and I am not oblivious to this notion. At this point the mother of the neighbor’s house is outside, and she is trying to get Milo to stop running and barking with Brandi. I was getting a little annoyed myself with Brandi, so I called her name calmly; the mother yelled across the yard at me, “Yeah, control your dogs!

Well, I do not like being yelled at especially when I did not even know this woman shouting at me. We exchanged a few words and went our separate ways. I am pretty sure I got the best of her in the exchange, and it seemed as if she thought I would just roll over like her dog might. Little did she know I can be a smart butt if provoked.

The same pattern continued, and my mother-in-law actually talked to the mother not long after I had words with her; we found out Milo had been to obedient school which is all well and good. Brandi and Baby have never been to obedient school though Crystals parents tried to find someone in the mountains of North Carolina to no avail.

So, maybe these people think they are better than us and our dogs, but who really is to say. Mind you the house we live in is a parsonage owned by the Church, and something tells me that they are aware of that and maybe they do not like it.

Eventually, the mother started throwing water on Brandi through the wooden fence, and I actually saw her do it the first time she did it. I did not say anything to her, as I decided to let it go. The mother kept doing it, though it was not actually seen, but Brandi would come in with water spots on her; perhaps it was the woman’s vodka, as it would not surprise me the way she acts.

We got fed up with the mother throwing water on Brandi, as we would never dream of doing such a thing to a neighbor’s pet; I called the police department and talked to an officer about it to see if anything could be done. the officer went by the neighbor’s house and talked to them, and the mother admitted to throwing water on Brandi. The officer told me that he told the mother that she could not do that.

At the beginning of the past week, animal control showed up to our front door and talked to us, but they mainly talked to my mother-in-law. Our loving neighbors had filed a complaint against us because of the dogs barking. The neighbors said they could not enjoy being outside on their patio.

Now, I can see the neighbor’s side to a certain point, but when it all comes out in the wash dogs are going to bark. If you do not like having neighbors living right behind you with barking dogs, try moving to the country; Oklahoma has plenty of it.

This is all I have to say on the matter of our first neighborly feud. I pray for them, and I pray for the Baptist Church they attend, because something does not seem right, but that is in Gods hands.

In case you have not noticed, I have changed my blog website name to curasicuriosity.com. I was never quite sure about the name bloggingbychris.com though it did serve its purpose. Thank you so much for reading this post, and I hope you will come back again.

Take care and God bless!
